Our babies are starting to move around at 8 months old. That’s why we needed a playpen so that we don’t always have to be careful. We chose a large ball pit from Amazon because we have twins. The playpen comes already with a mattress, 50 balls, basketball and soccer nets! Maybe our twins will become the next Ronaldos or Michael Jordans, who knows?

Do the soccer goals take up a lot of space? No, in our version they are flexible and you can tie them together with cable ties if you don’t want the babies to crawl into them.

First I thought we will get a map of roads printed on the mattress which would have been nice for our boys!
Construction
The frame has to be outside and the fabric inside (i.e. the warning notice has to face upwards)… Other than that there is not much that can go wrong, it is just a matter of selecting the pole with the right length.

Observations:
- construction is time-consuming
- so despite the transport bag, it’s not a mobile solution (but folding playpens cost over 200 euros)
- once assembled, you should only carry it very carefully to other rooms as the plastic connections can break
Conclusion
Is this the best playpen? We are very happy. The playpen will be even more valuable when the babies are able to stand up and play ball. Also there are two gates where they can get out in the future. Everything seems to be very solid and should hold up well until that. We just have to cut the baby’s nails regularly so they don’t slice the mattress and the nets!
Now we can go to the other rooms without too much worrying. But often we still have breakfast or dinner in our bed. Because the babies don’t like playing alone of course 😉
General disadvantages of such a playpen:
- to pick up the babys (now we have to lean over the edge of the playpen or step over the edge without dripping)
Still it makes our life more easy because we don’t have to put the babies back to where they started every time they try to escape. And the babies have heaps of fun!
