Today we are testing the most popular all-in-one baby carrier from the US. All-in-one means it is for newborns up to small children!

Material

With the Ergobaby Omni Breeze the name says it all: The mesh material is ideal for outdoor sports and summer. (But from 30 degrees celisus and more you will sweat in any baby carrier!)

The shoulder straps of the Breeze are more slim compared to the to the Ergobaby Omni 360, which was its predecessor, so it is less sweaty (typical backpack-material).

Unfortunately the mesh material tends to “pill”, i.e. small, firm balls of lint that form on the surface of the polyester. That’s why we recommend to wash the carrier only when necessary!

Or you buy the Ergobaby Omni Dream, which is the cotton variant of the Breeze.

Preparations

In the carrier the babys sits in the recommended M-position.

natural clinging position for infants, also known as the Spread-Squat (M-position)

For that the carrier has to be adjusted to the baby’s size:

The babys can by carried in front, on the hip and on the back:

the baby can also face forward when carried in front (which is not recommended because it is not so good for the baby’s back). There are extra sliders to accomplish this.

BTW when talking about a healthy back: The Ergobaby has an extra lumbar support:

beside connecting the two straps like in the picture it is also possible to cross them

With the Breeze the neck rest is used or tucked away depending on the age of the baby:

The baby hood is hidden in a zipper compartment:

the baby hood is well stored… and protects from rain

The Breeze has reflectivity for safety and security, side pocktes and a detachable fanny bag.

This we like a lot to store keys and money for example. It is less useful to store a smartphone because we don’t want to expose our babies to the radiation…

In our opinion the extra features and the cutting edge mesh material justifies the relatively steep price of the Breeze

BTW the carrier has a way to shorten the straps if they are tangling around:

wind the strap up and pop the elastic loop over to get rid of the excess

Using the carrier

Here you can see how we put on and use the baby carrier and its basic features:

Conclusion

What is our take on the Ergobaby Omni Breeze? In summer or for outdoor sports – like hiking – the Ergobaby is a winner because of the cutting edge material, the many extras like the detachable pouch or the lumbar support for long-wearing comfort.

Also we like a lot the design (which is sporty… if you don’t like that you can always choose the Ergobaby Omni Dream). It can be put on in a pinch because there are not so many adjustments. Which makes us wonder if it will work for all babies…

What do we think? It is really the best carrier from the US? We are fans. Our baby falls asleep quickly. What we don’t like so much is that it is made in Vietnam and for that it is relatively expensive. Post your take in the comments below!
