How we babyproof our home

Age: 6 months 20 days

With 6 months our babies start to roll around. Now we have to identify and remove all possible sources of danger in our home.

Sockets

We put covers on the sockets.

Removing this cover is only possible by using a power plug so it should be impossible for a toddler:

I prefer this solution over protections that are glued into the power outlet because it causes problems with some plugs.

The disadvantage of this solution is that the baby could remove a plugged in device and get access to the electric contacts. But this is very unlikely because the fingers of a toddler are not so tiny. And if he is using tools the protect switch should engage immediately.

Corner Protectors

We have some sharp corners and right now the danger is esp. with the lower corners, not yet the corners on top.

That’s why we put protectors:

Unfortunately it does not stick well to some surfaces i.e. it is necessary to clean the surface first. Mabye we will put some extra tape.

What else?

We will need to do more esp. when they are toddlers and start to open doors and cabinets. Then we will extend this list.
