Today we are comparing 2 of the most popular all-in-one baby carriers (i.e. for newborns to small children). Ergobaby Omni Breeze or Manudca XT, which one is better?

Material

With the Ergobaby Omni Breeze the name says it all: The mesh material is ideal for outdoor sports and better suited for the summer. (But from 30 degrees celisus and more you will sweat in any baby carrier!) The organic cotton of the Manduca is more comfortable when wearing.

With Cotton the color washes out when washed too often or from the sun. On the other hand the mesh material tends to “pill” (small, firm balls of lint that form on the surface of the polyester). That’s why we recommend to wash the carriers only when necessary!

Or you buy the Ergobaby Omni Dream, which is the cotton variant of the Breeze.

Comparison

In both carriers the babys sit in the recommended M-position.

First the carrier has to be adjusted to the baby’s size. The Manduca has an easier way of doing this:

Breeze
Manduca

The babys can by carried in front, on the hip and on the back:

With the Breeze (to the left) the baby can also face forward when carried in front (which is not recommended because it is not so good for the baby’s back). There are extra sliders to accomplish this.

BTW when talking about a healthy back: The Ergobaby has an extra lumbar support:

On the other hand the Manduca has zippers in front to extend (or shorten) the height. With the Breeze the neck rest is used or tucked away depending on the age of the baby.

Both carriers feature a baby hood: with the Manduca it is used as a neck rest when winded up.

The Breeze has reflectivity for safety and security, side pocktes and a detachable fanny bag.

This we like a lot to store keys and money for example. It is less useful to store a smartphone because we don’t want to expose our babies to the radiation…

In our opinion the extra features and the cutting edge mesh material justifies the higher price of the Breeze… esp. considering that the weight is more or less the same (which is in the 700-800g range).

BTW both carriers have a way to shorten the straps if they are tangling around:

wind the strap up and pop the elastic loop over to get rid of the excess

Using the carriers

Here you can see how we put on and use the baby carriers and its basic features:

put on (Breeze)
wear baby and basic functions (Breeze)
put on (Manduca)
wear baby and basic functions (Manduca)

Conclusion

Which on is better? The Ergobaby Omni Breeze or the Manduca XT? In summer or for outdoor sports – like hiking – the Ergobaby is the clear winner because of the cutting edge material, the many extras like the detachable pouch or the lumbar support for long-wearing comfort.

But when it is really hot outside you will sweat a lot in both carriers anyways. That’s why we think the Manduca XT is a decent choice as well. We like the adjustability compared to the Ergobaby. Only the design is a little bit meh.

Which one will you pick? Post in the comments! Both carrier are excellent choices and in the end your baby decides in which it wants to nap!
