The Philips Avent 2-in-1 baby food maker can steam and blend. It cannot defrost and reheat like the 4-in-1 baby food maker. But this is easier to do in hot water anyways. Today we will make carrot purree again.
Steam
First, cut the sweet baby carrots into pieces no larger than 2-3 cm.
Before you can put the carrots you have to insert the blades to be able to blend later.
There is a small vent that has to be inserted into the lid that is easy to loose:
Now the lid can be closed:
The lid must be rotated into the indentation:
According to the table, it takes 15 minutes with the baby food maker until the carrots are steamed.

The water starts to boil:
When all the water is gone the device peeps and the light goes out. Now turn off.
Blend
Take out the container and turn it upside down:
Hold the switch in the blend position:
This is what the result looks like, which can be removed with the supplied spatula:
Feeding
We add a teaspoon of rapeseed or olive oil:
When we freeze we don’t add oil because oil doesn’t freeze that well.
We feed the babies:

Avent 2-in-1 vs 4-in-1
The 2-in-1 steamer blender cannot defrost or reheat. You will need the Philips Avent 4-in-1 baby food maker to be able to do that. But you will need to fill the baby food in these special “discs” to be able to defrost or reheat it:
This is not practical at all and we prefer to heat up the food in hot water.
Here you can see both devices side by side:
The 4-in-1 has a bigger volume. But the motor unit is actually smaller but the whole device is taller.
If you have twins like us I would recommend the more expensive 4-in-1. But the 2-in-1 is much easier to use. It is not necessary to set the minutes. Also the included measuring cup is useful. Actually we destroyed the 4-in-1 because we forgot to put the lid on the motor unit. So there is not as much room for errors…
